Job Description for Fire Alarm Technician
Fire alarm technicians service, repair, install, and sell fire alarm products to customers. They provide consultation on potential fire alarm locations, as well as conduct troubleshooting and programming on site during customer visits. In case of emergency, fire alarm technicians are required to promptly arrive at the site and respond to any issues the customer may be having with the fire alarm. The fire alarm technician's typical day consists of site visits and installations, along with driving to and from sites and creating documentation of any work that has been performed. Typically, the technician's work is indoors and requires the physical ability to reach difficult positions during installation and the ability to lift objects into position. On-call availability is needed in this position, as a customer emergency may emerge at any time requiring the fire alarm technician to respond and repair the system.Read More...
A high school diploma is generally required for the position, but often a postsecondary degree is preferred. Excellent electrical wiring knowledge is needed, as installation and service may require wiring the fire alarm to the electrical system.
