The health information management (HIM) director is the main person responsible for the coding and medical records departments. Because this individual is in charge of multiple departments, they may oversee a large number of employees depending on the size of their facility. These directors generally work in health care and educational facilities. They are responsible for ensuring the facility complies with all compliance laws and guidelines. The HIM director should be capable of implementing new technologies to increase productivity and workflow.
