Job Description for Packaging Engineer
Packaging engineers are responsible for developing effective packaging models for their organization, using a variety of tools and software applications to create packaging that fits projects' requirements. One of their main responsibilities is to analyze materials and propose changes to increase efficiency and optimize use of company resources. Packaging engineers generate ideas that help with implementation and testing processes, and they also use a personal computer to create designs with specific packaging characteristics. Packaging engineers create innovative solutions for structural packaging based on business concepts, build strong business relationships with internal departments, and incorporate consumer and industry research into packaging offerings. These engineers must have an understanding of pricing architecture and model costs, in addition to possible obstacles in the testing phase. They complete complex reports about the packaging components and possible changes to improve maneuverability of the final product. They work well in a team environment with other packaging specialists and engineers and report their progress to the packaging director or manager in their department.
