Job Description for Piping Designer

Piping designers are responsible for all aspects of the design, implementation, and maintenance of piping construction. This requires coordination with other engineering and planning groups to understand the project scope and needs, as well as where piping needs to go. Piping designers must work within a strict budget framework and develop alternative plans for piping needs with a variety of costs, materials, and layouts to allow for flexibility in construction. They must meet proper safety guidelines, as well as ensure structural integrity and the ability to meet proper pipe pressures. They must ensure there is a sufficient layout of pumps, exchangers, and pressure vessels to meet site requirements related to pressure, temperature, and suction. Piping designers then must ensure completion of design and make any changes necessary as the piping is implemented.
