Job Description for Principal Technical Program Manager
Principal technical program managers are responsible for the technical aspects of their organizations' projects, including detecting and solving systemic problems before they occur. They must communicate regularly with other groups within the organization and oversee the completion of their projects both on-time and under budget constraints, and they're also tasked with reviewing and testing code to ensure it works properly, gathering and creating product requirements and specifications, and driving new products and features through the development process.Read More...
Principal technical program managers must be able to develop, maintain, and distribute project management initiatives to successfully launch new products and services, and these initiatives include implementation plans, project schedules and budgets, risk assessments, and contingencies. Working within a team and managing certain groups are necessary in this position, and they must be able to effectively communicate with non-technical advisors on a regular basis.
A bachelor's degree with a technical discipline and/or prior experience in technical areas is generally required for this position, and these managers should also have strong analytical skills, prior experience with product development, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.
