Basic administrative duties within the library, such as budgeting, hiring, administering payroll, and training staff members may be necessary, and these specialists usually undergo training and testing to obtain certification for this position.
Prior experience in classroom teaching is highly beneficial for this position, as they also work with teachers to understand content within the curriculum and what can be done to improve students' understanding, such as extra materials or lessons. It's important to stay-up-to-date with new practices and technologies in teaching, and they may also work with other teachers within the school to develop a vision and mission for the school library and plans that can be taken into action.
