A senior product development scientist oversees the development of a product from start to finish, ensuring that the product is able to pass through every step of the process from the drawing table until shipment. Senior product development scientists are usually responsible for leading development teams, designing new products or developments, maintaining quality standards with testing, and compiling and organizing data necessary for product release. During production and development, the senior product development scientist must uphold any rules and regulations that apply them to their work, as well as follow safety protocols. They should also touch with other departments from the same company, such as quality assurance and production, as well as outside consultants.
