Senior property management accountants work primarily at real estate management companies and carry out financial calculations for places such as retail locations and housing complexes. Because this is a senior position, a great degree of responsibility is generally required. This is also a leadership position, so previous leadership experience may need to be proven. Senior property management accountants perform a variety of calculations to ensure that all books and records are closed, and they are also in charge of financial reporting and analysis. Those in this position must ensure that all work abides by standard laws and regulations, and another duty involves filing income and sales taxes for the company. They must make sure that the highest return possible is always obtained; internal audits may be carried out, as well.
This job has time constraints, so it is important for prospective applicants to be self-motivated. Organizational skills are also important, as records must be kept in an accurate and sensible manner.
