Job Description for Senior Staff Accountant

Senior staff accountants are responsible for overseeing all aspects of a company’s accounting. Some specialization may occur in larger organizations, but senior staff accountants generally verify payroll information, review billing details on a monthly basis, prepare and post journal entries, and maintain the balance sheet. In the short term, they track cash and credit payments and rectify banking information on a daily basis. In some firms, senior staff accountants may also track sales tax or other specialized tax information. Longer-term projects include analyzing yearly performance data for presentation to management, which involves comparing prior projections to actual performance, adjusting and creating a new forecast, and investigating any anomalies in the accounting data. Senior staff accountants also assist with auditing as needed.

Senior Staff Accountant Reviews

Q: What is it like working in Denver?

Senior Staff Accountant in Denver:
"Denver is a Beautiful City."
Pros: What I love most about Denver isn't about working here. It is the environment overall. I wake up in the morning with a view of the snow covered mountains. The temperature can be 60 degrees in January, and the sun almost always shines. The people who live here come from all over the country, and tend to be upbeat and friendly. Who wouldn't want to live and work here?
Cons: Depending on where you live and work, the time to commute and traffic can be difficult.

Senior Staff Accountant in Jacksonville:
"Traffic is horrible. Lots of things to do and places to ear."
Pros: People are nice.
Cons: Pay is bad and not appreciated at work.

Senior Staff Accountant in Indianapolis:
Pros: I like the atmosphere and the other employees.
Cons: The stress can be high at times.
