Sr. Software Engineer / Developer / Programmer Reviews

Q: What is it like working in San Jose?

Sr. Software Engineer / Developer / Programmer in San Jose:
"Silicon Valley - Overview of the work/life balance."
Pros: Proximty to surf, sand, mountains and snow with a short enough drive to each. Decent pay. Lots of opportunities. Telecommuting when needed. Two color seasons (infrequent rain, nice sun without being too hot, no snow in town).
Cons: The roads. The commute. Timeshifting (read this as hours at both ends). Follow-the-sun support. What-have-you-done-for-me-lately (though this seems to be dying out).
