I applied for a new job in a new country which offered more than I was earning in my previous job.
reception administration - Queensland, Australia
When I applied online and was asked to come in for an interview, everything went well, I was pretty much going to be doing the same as what I had done at my previous job with less responsibilites and duties.

When it came to the, "how much do you expect to be paid for the job"? I was a bit taken back as the advert had stated X amount of $. I paused and took a deep hopefully un-noticed breath and replied, well from memory the advertisment said X amount of $ I believe that is fair and reasonable for the experience and qualifications I have.

(Hindsight I must add, I was nervous but confident that I was worth what they were offering as a starting rate and knew from browsing the net that it was about the going rate for the position I was applying for)

I got the job!

Sous Chef - (City withheld for privacy), Queensland, Australia
i was hired as a sous chef to help run a restaurant! i took the job at a peliminary rate of 38000.... i do all that is done of me and more i'm always early and i make sure that i am doing the company proud.... i work an extra 6hrs per week for no extra cash.... the bias in my workplace is that they are now hiring people with less experience and they're getting paid more than me!! it makes no sense.... i think i should be geting paid more than people who are suposed to be the people i'm training for this buisness.... not good enough people

Not fair
Kitchen Chef - (City withheld for privacy), New South Wales (NSW), Australia
When I started this job it was a position consisting only of assisting in the kitchen, washing dishes, food prep and things a like. Since a week ago the chef has left the job resulting in myself taking up the position and still continuing my original duties. There is not one day I leave on my rostered hours, its always at least 2-3 hours over and no overtime. I dont know what to do my manager just dont want to talk to me about it, she just says "you will get quicker."
