Dream Job
Human Resources (HR) Manager - (City withheld for privacy), Delhi, India
When I first started this job I worked alongside another assistant, but she didn't last long and I ultimately ended up doing both jobs on my own. I thought I deserved a higher salary but I was initially hesitant to ask for it.

Fair Pay
Network Administrator, LAN / WAN - (City withheld for privacy), Madhya Pradesh, India
Well, the type of job I am involved-in as on date involves direct customer coordiantion as well as with internal technical staff.

With reference to the quality of work I am doing I believe that the salary that is being paid to me is much less than what it should be.

Also, there are people who have reached the position where I am at, today although they don't deserve it.

The criteria for career progression is not driven by policies, instead by the personal views of people involved in the process.

My firm view is that the salary of employees should be governed by policy based conclusions. By rating the skills and the actual output of the concerned person in the work area.

Those showing excellent performance should never be made to move out forcefully from their existing work territory unless they agree to it willfuly. Otherwise, it becomes a punishment for giving a great performance.

Negotiation
Lead Software Development Engineer, Test (SDET) - (City withheld for privacy), Karnataka, India
Try to negotiate as much as possible. Once you are inside the company, you will not get many opportunities for a raise.

I worked two jobs but was only getting paid for one.
Store Incharge With in Computer Opr. - (City withheld for privacy), Uttar Pradesh, India
When I first started this job I worked alongside another assistant, but she didn't last long and I ultimately ended up doing both jobs on my own. I thought I deserved a higher salary but I was initially hesitant to ask for it.

The hard part for me was finding the right words to describe what I wanted. I didn't want to come off as disgruntled. I also wasn't sure when to ask and I kept putting it off.

I waited until the company's review cycle. I repeated (in my head) the word "fair", over and over. I tried to think about what problems my manager was dealing with, and how I was helping to solve them.

I said: "I know its been hard to fill the other position. Since i'm working out and getting the job done, i'd like to be compensated fairly."

I got a 7% raise and $500 bonus! And, my boss eventually also hired another assistant to help me with my workload.

Build a knowledgebase
Security Consultant, (Computing / Networking / Information Technology) - (City withheld for privacy), Maharashtra, India
For last 12 years I am working on my own as an IT consultant to urban banks. The knowledgebase I have acquired getting bits of knowledge whereever I can find and have applied them practically. Over the period I came to know that the knowledgebase with me has been is recognised as standard world wide. Now I want myself to use the same at a broad sprectum instead of using it at urban level. I feel that this experience is going to benefit the company at a large scale.
