Business Process / Management Consultant in Durham, North Carolina:
Pros: Improving patient experience
Cons: getting projects derailed due to politics
Many pros and some room for growth.
Certified Nurse Midwife in Durham, North Carolina:
Pros: I feel appreciated by my supervisors and patients. Unfortunately, Duke is still in the process of understanding and appreciating the roles of APPs in their organization. The L&D floors often view APPs as an extension of residents, which feel demeaning at time. This is definitely a work in progress and requires a lot of support from medical directors and our leadership.
Cons: Unclear job duties related to supervision and education. Do not receive the same (or even similar) benefits to our physician colleagues despite sharing responsibilities in education and supervision.
