Job Description for Neurosurgeon

A neurosurgeon is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of neurological conditions. A qualified candidate for this position must be board certified. Neurosurgeons often work as part of a team of specialized doctors in hospitals and other health care facilities. In addition to treatment of patients, they may teach medical students. Neurosurgeons are also sometimes required to oversee medical residents, particularly when working in a teaching hospital.

  • Perform surgical procedures, both exploratory and for treatment.
  • Document and track all treatments, diagnoses, medications, and other health data.
