Job Description for Plastic Extruder Operator

Plastic extrusion operators generally work in areas of plastics manufacturing, aerospace manufacturing, and automotive manufacturing. This job is similar to other labor jobs in that, most of the time, people in this position do not require a high school diploma to work in the field. Plastic extrusion operators do go through job training, however, to learn the equipment and movements required to do the job successfully.


Plastic Extruder Operator Tasks

  • Monitor safety and maintenance needs on the plant floor, reporting major problems and fixing minor ones.
  • Set up, monitor, and operate plastic extrusion equipment, troubleshooting to meet output goals.
  • Inspect products for quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Operate a forklift or other equipment to move materials and products from one area to another.
