They also review accounting documentation and report to higher management if they find any discrepancies.
These individuals work in an office environment with a regular 9 - 5 weekday schedule. Senior manager accountants/auditors work in fast-paced settings, so they must pay close attention to detail to minimize financial incidents. They generally use accounting and auditing software on a personal computer to increase their productivity, and must be proficient with office applications to create detailed financial reports based on their observations and results.
Senior manager accountants/auditors are also in charge of managing and motivating a group of financial professionals to reach all accounting objectives. They also verify and review auditing contacts and provide support when external firms conduct financial investigations as part of their routine. They must know how to use spreadsheet software to keep accounting records and run calculations, as they will be managing all internal auditors, performing annual accounting practices, and preparing compliance programs and documentation.
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is required for this position. Previous years of work experience in a managing capacity are helpful, as are industry certifications.
