Former Bucknell students are professionally suited for a wide range of fields including the software development industry, the management consulting industry, and energy. The most popular field is the financial services industry. On the other end of the spectrum is the civil engineering services industry, which attracts less than five percent of Bucknell alumni. The average starting salary for a graduate of Bucknell is $68K.


In the Bucknell alumni community, men make a median salary of approximately $70K compared to their female counterparts, who earn around $58K.


Bucknell grads who become Information Technology Managers garner financial rewards beyond any other job type for this group — these alumni rake in an average $100K annually. However, Software Engineers and Mechanical Engineers also rank as top-earners (bringing in about $80K and $79K, respectively). Sitting at the bottom of the pay scale are Operations Analysts who make an average of $57K.


Many Bucknell students are New York, N.Y.-bound following college. With a median salary of approximately $97K, Philadelphia, Pa. represents the highest-paid city popular among Bucknell grads. Washington, DC is a popular spot for former Bucknell students at the opposite end of the pay scale; in fact, average salaries there are the lowest at $50K. Other common destinations include Boston, Mass. and Denver, Colo.

Degree Major

With a median annual earnings of about $176K per year, former Bisons who have a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Finance are the best paid among the alumni population. A Bachelor's Degree, Psychology is less advantageous in terms of earnings; alums with this degree are the lowest earners with a median annual pay of around $40K.


Proficiency in Project Management is common among Bucknell alumni, and when it comes to using it on the job, slightly more than a fifth of former students report doing so. Former Bisons who have experience with People Management can expect to make 47 percent more than other alumni ($100K on average). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and People Management command top-of-the-line rewards as well.

Benefits and Perks

Just two-fifths of alumni enjoy paid vacation and merely one in five survey participants get paid sick time. Nearly all alumni receive health insurance, and a large number of grads get dental coverage. The vast majority of graduates participate in a 401(k) retirement savings plan. Other benefits awarded to Bucknell University alumni include a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, life insurance, and tuition reimbursement.
