Professionally, the software development industry, energy, and IT services are popular business areas among Bucknell alumni. The most popular field is the financial services industry. Less than five percent of Bucknell grads move into the transportation industry — it is the road least traveled for this demographic. Following graduation, Bucknell students earn an average of $67K.


Male graduates on average earn more than female graduates; the first group banks about $70K per year, but the second group takes home only $57K.


Bucknell grads who become Information Technology Managers are compensated well above average — these folks are top-earners among their graduating class, making an average $100K yearly. Also notably well-paid are Process Engineers and Software Engineers; their salaries approach $84K and around $80K, respectively. Sliding in near the bottom are Operations Analysts, who report earnings of approximately $57K.


Many Bucknell grads flock to New York, N.Y. In addition, former Bucknell students often head to Morristown, N.J. after graduating, where the median salary comes to $100K in this top-paying city. On the other hand, Bucknell alumni who end up in Washington, DC receive the lowest median salary of about $50K. Nearby Philadelphia, Pa. and Boston, Mass. also rank high on the list of cities for Bucknell grads.

Degree Major

Former Bisons who fare the best in terms of salary hold a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Finance and earn a median salary of $176K per year. On the other end of the spectrum, those with a Bachelor's Degree, Psychology tend to do the worst in terms of salary, making an average approximately $40K per year.


Many Bucknell grads have knowledge of Project Management, with slightly less than a fourth of alumni using this program on the clock. For former Bisons, proficiency in People Management warrants a paycheck that is 49 percent more than other alumni salaries. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and People Management is highly valued as well.

Benefits and Perks

Though vacation and sick days are paid for some, these benefits are reported by the minority of graduates (two-fifths of alumni and one-fifth of alumni, respectively). Nearly all graduates have medical plans, and a strong majority of survey participants have dental insurance. Nearly all survey participants participate in a 401(k) retirement savings plan. Alumni of Bucknell University also take in a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, life insurance, and tuition reimbursement.
