Graduates of Fairfield head into a range of vocations when it comes to work; the manufacturing industry, the advertising agency industry, and the education industry are just a few professional areas popular among alumni. The most popular field is the financial services industry. Those with an education from Fairfield earn an average of $71K.


After college, a notable gender gap appears: the average female graduate makes $66K where the average male graduate hauls home around $80K.


The most lucrative professionals among Fairfield alumni are Senior Software Engineers; they earn a median annual salary of $119K. Also approaching the top of the pay scale at $102K and about $80K are Product Managers of Software and Electrical Engineers. Administrative Assistants wrap up the bottom of the pay scale, earning approximately $37K.


A large number of students head to New York after college. Another city that attracts a wealth of Fairfield grads is Shelton; given its high compensation (around $84K is the average salary), the city's popularity should come as no surprise. Many former Stags can't resist staying in Fairfield after graduating despite the median salaries there ranking lowest among popular cities ($64K). In addition, Fairfield grads flock to neighboring Stamford as well as Boston.

Degree Major

A B.A. in Philosophy will compensate Fairfield grads at a much higher rate than other fields — these alums tend to rake in approximately $133K per year. Ranking last in the compensation department are those holding a B.A. in English Language — their annual income amounts to $33K on average.


Knowing Project Management can pay off big time for former Stags, who can expect a 24 percent bigger paycheck than other grads. Fairfield alumni are often well versed in Microsoft Excel, with around one in six grads ending up in jobs that require this skillset. Competency in Project Management, Microsoft Office, and Data Analysis also warrants excellent retribution.

Benefits and Perks

When it comes to benefits, there is room for improvement — only two-fifths of alumni are paid for vacation and just one-third of alumni for sick time. A strong majority of alums save for retirement through a 401(k) plan. A solid majority of alumni enjoy benefits like health insurance, while a fair portion of former students receive dental plans, too. Alumni of Fairfield University also take in life insurance, a casual working environment, tuition reimbursement, and a company-subsidized cell phone.
