A training instructor is responsible for teaching clients about a specific skill in a certain industry. Training instructors exist in a variety of sectors such as technology, healthcare, business, education, and more. Most training instructors must have proficient content knowledge of the area in which they are training. For example, a training instructor with expansive knowledge of technology may be responsible for training employees of a company on a new computer program, operating system, or Internet startup; they must, therefore, have experience on the program and generally in training employees in technology.Read More...
Training instructors must enjoy teaching; they must also enjoy learning, as they will be required to stay up to date on changing programs, skills, and technology. Additionally, they must have excellent knowledge of their subject area beyond the actual training they are doing, to demonstrate a high level of competence and come across as an expert on the subject.
Training instructors can be hired on full-time by companies or they can also perform contract work. Either way, most training instructors do require lots of traveling, at least within a certain region or district. More specialized training instructors may even travel around the country or internationally, depending on the level of instruction needed and the difficulty level.
Most training instructor positions require a bachelor’s degree in the field in which they are instructing. A degree in education with experience in the field may also suffice for some companies. Training instructors must have a high level of professionalism and excellent communication skills. Also, as with any type of teaching, a high level of patience is helpful.
