Job Description for Dispensary Technician
Dispensary technicians - also called pharmacy technicians - work in a pharmacy, a hospital, or another medical facility. Operating under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the dispensary technician is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in a number of tasks. These technicians receive prescriptions from customers; these may be written, via telephone, or through Internet-enabled systems. They then reviews the patient’s personal information, check for any potential allergies or conflicts with the prescribed medication, and use the patient’s insurance to determine the proper coverage and pricing. The dispensary technician then locates the appropriate medication and measures the proper quantity, as well as prepare the packaging and labels for the medication. Dispensary technicians often process the customer’s purchase and provide the medication to them upon receipt of payment.Read More...
