Field service engineers work with their hands to fix what is broken, primarily in electronic installation and scheduling maintenance and malfunctions, and most days are spent traveling from one work-site to another to resolve the electrical problems or situations that arise. No formal education is required for this position beyond a high school diploma, though employers may prefer those who have at least an associate's degree in a relevant field and/or many years of on-site training. Many field service engineers are also required to work with trained technicians to further their career path and expand their knowledge.
