One of their main responsibilities is to accurately test for defects and ensure that only high-quality materials are distributed or released. They must manage any complaints or issues in a professional manner, and strive to increase customer satisfaction as well as brand loyalty. Quality assurance supervisors also follow strict safety rules and encourage everyone under their supervision to do the same. They actively participate in production meetings and suggest ways to increase production efficiency and correct product quality issues. Quality assurance supervisors monitor procedures and establish standards for others to follow, as well as keep records of quality issues. In addition, they measure product performance, and determine if changes are required for production methods.
Quality assurance supervisors work in a production environment, with their main tools including a computer to maintain an accurate log of their findings and communicate electronically with clients and vendors. They generally report to their quality assurance team leader in their department.
A bachelor's degree in engineering, a relevant scientific discipline, or a related field is necessary for this position. Previous quality assurance experience may be preferred. They should have a working knowledge of different test methods and their implementation. Additionally, these supervisors should have strong problem solving skills and be able to multitask. They must work well independently, as well as in a team environment with other supervisors to reach all company objectives.
