Job Description for Annual Giving Manager
Annual giving managers are responsible for managing an annual giving program. They must develop an effective program that includes direct mail, fundraising, and memorial gifts, as well as oversee preparation of monthly and annual reports related to giving. These managers must work to attract potential donors, as well as maintain ongoing relationships with existing donors (which may include individuals, groups, and organizations). Annual giving managers may also perform supervisory duties for giving staff, providing feedback, advice, and discipline as needed. They also communicate with coworkers and supervisors to determine needed improvements and collaborations related to giving. Annual giving managers generally report to a development officer within their organization.
Typically, a bachelor’s degree is required for this position, as well as substantial relevant experience. Annual giving managers must have excellent decision-making, multitasking, and communication skills, as well as proficiency with basic computer programs such as the Microsoft Office suite.
