A chief executive officer (CEO) of a non-profit organization is responsible for overseeing the company’s functions and employees and/or volunteers. Depending on the type of non-profit, they must also ensure that all finances are in order on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Non-profit CEOs must provide directions to employees throughout the organization to regroup and redirect when finances are not in balance, and they are also responsible for firing and hiring employees within the organization. If the organization has volunteers, the CEO often has the final say on who remains in the programs and who may be let go. They may also plan and schedule activities and events which revolve around the organization’s mission and assemble the teams of employees and volunteers who will bring them to life.
