CAD operators typically work closely with other operators and highly-qualified and experienced engineers and architects to coordinate the production of the company's infrastructure, product, and materials. They typically work during regular business hours in an office setting, and they are occasionally supervised by head engineers or other qualified CAD operators. A high school diploma and an associate's degree or successful completion of a technical training program are generally required for this position, and some employers also require certification through the American Design Drafting Association, which is highly beneficial for professional CAD work.
