Job Description for Grocery Stocker
Positions as grocery stockers are available at a variety of grocery stores, though the size of teams and available openings depend on the size of the employing store. Some grocery stockers may work in a relatively independent position, while others need to coordinate with other employees performing stocking duties. Most of the stocker's work consists of receiving and stocking items carried by the store, as well as performing tasks such as cleaning the store, ensuring prices are accurately displayed, removing expired products, and setting up displays.Read More...
Work hours for the position vary depending on the opening, but it is common to work weekends, evenings, and holidays in many cases. Grocery stockers work in an indoor environment, but exposure to outdoor shipping docks may be necessary; depending on the location of the store, exposure to hot or cold temperatures may also be expected. With safety protocols and procedures in place, safety and risk-related issues are generally minimal.
This position may require a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience is not usually required, but the ability to lift and handle products is important. In addition to this, basic math skills and superior customer service skills are also expected. Time-management skills, including not being late or wasting time on the clock, are required as well.
