Job Description for Operations Coordinator, Logistics

Logistics operations coordinators are responsible for establishing and maintaining an efficient transportation and shipping network. The two primary areas under their control are warehousing and transportation. They work with warehouse supervisors to ensure that materials are stored in an efficient manner and can be retrieved quickly when needed. They maintain proper inventory levels in the appropriate locations to prevent shortages, which slow or prevent shipments, and overstocking, which wastes storage space. Logistics operations coordinators manage relationships with outside delivery services to ensure timely shipment and delivery of goods. If an organization work internationally, they may be responsible for coordinating with customs, obtaining permits, working with regulatory agencies, maintaining relationships with customs agents, and ensuring packages and shipments comply with import/export laws. In all of their duties, logistics coordinators are responsible for developing efficient processes to improve delivery speed and reduce costs.
