An operations director manages the overall output of a group of workers that form an organization. The role is a generalized position that requires an ability to adapt to different issues in different departments. Typically, the operations director is heavily involved in financial planning and project schedule supervision. This includes planning for an annual budget, setting financial goals, and ensuring that everybody is on board with changes by working closely with the human resources department. In the office setting, the operations director spends most of their time in contact with the accounting or financing department to ensure that payroll and project budgets (among other things) are on track and free of problems.
