Job Description for Orderly

Orderlies, also called nurse or ward assistants, are responsible for assisting medical staff with patient care duties in a hospital setting. Their main responsibilities may vary by facility, but common duties include moving patients using a wheelchair to different parts of the hospital, verifying that linens are stocked and clean, ensuring rooms are clean after procedures and transporting any necessary equipment to specified locations within the hospital. They may also help apply casts, shave and bathe patients, and perform other personal care tasks for patients. Orderlies must follow all laws and hospital regulations related to patient privacy and safety, as well as use protective gear such as gloves and uniforms as required.
