Job Description for Finish Carpenter

A finish carpenter works with wood to ensure the quality of completed pieces meets their company's and or clients' standards. They must maintain a clean job site, communicate effectively with the client to discern their needs and issues, and work well with other carpenter. Finish carpenters are also responsible for reviewing and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and work orders. They must then determine what materials and equipment are needed for the assignment; for all projects, finish carpenters need to ensure that jobs completed come in under or at budget and are completed on time.

Finish Carpenter Tasks
  • Build closets, counters, shelves, cabinets, doors, bulletin boards, windows, wall panels and other related finish carpentry items.
  • Dismantle or demolish and remove designated items prior to the commencement of repairs.
  • Select lumber, materials and supplies.
  • Work from blueprints, sketches and drawings in addition to verbal and written descriptions to accomplish the job.
