A senior counsel is responsible for handling various legal matters inside a law firm or, in some cases, in businesses. Their specific tasks may vary depending on the needs of their organization and their specialty. Generally, they must be able to apply complex legal strategy to the specific needs and requirements of their clients and/or organization. They may also mentor other attorneys and work extensively with internal teams on their needs. Other tasks completed by the senior counsel might include working with clients, creating legal strategies catering to clients' needs, and providing legal advice as required. For example, they may give advice related to land and contracts and help develop contracts for these matters as well. The senior counsel must be skilled in effectively conducting research and resolving legal disputes.
