Job Description for Dental Assistant (Registered)

Registered dental assistants work in dental practices and assist dentists with their procedures. These assistants may carry out a variety of duties under the dentist's supervision, such as cleaning teeth and initial patient interviews to understand their history and what services are needed. They may also be responsible for cleaning and sterilizing equipment and preparing trays with the necessary tools. They must keep the dental service area clean and presentable at all times, and may work with all age groups and patients who may be uncomfortable with dental procedures. As such, they should be able to calm patients and explain procedures to help them feel at ease, and strong communication skills are beneficial to work well with both patients and other dentists.
