Import coordinators must have good computer skills and a solid understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of products. The job takes place primarily in an office setting at a desk with a computer, as those in this position are responsible for keeping track of shipments and ensuring that correct documentation is available so items are not returned by customs. They will be required to ensure that all invoices are noted correctly and packing lists are printed entirely without errors. They also take care to monitor shipments and their progress through customs and take necessary measures to retrieve the cargo if any issues arise.
These coordinators must have excellent communication skills to interact directly with customers, vendors, and other workers. They will also be answering questions, making inquiries about cargo, and processing billing and sending invoices on occasion.
