Job Description for Landscape Designer

A landscape designer is responsible for creating feasible, aesthetically pleasing landscapes for clients. At the beginning of the landscape project cycle, the landscape designer works with a team to prepare a winning bid for a contract. They do this by gathering data about the project site and the materials which will be necessary to create a landscape in accordance with the requirements the client has set. Armed with this information, the landscape designer creates a visual representation of the final product; they often use AutoCAD and other software packages to create a digital model, although physical models built with craft materials may also be used. After creating the model, specifications, and cost estimate, the bid is submitted to the client. If the bid is accepted, landscape construction begins.
