Machine setup operators usually use measurement tools such use thermometers and calipers to analyze machines. Communication skills are important, as machine setup operators must be able to document and report any issues clearly to their superiors and peers. These operators also ensure that proper protocols on how equipment is started, maintained, used, cleaned, and turned off are followed. Safety in the workplace, including with the machine(s) they oversee, are an essential part of a machine setup operator's responsibilities.
