Job Description for Merchandiser

Merchandisers are responsible for controlling advertisements and related setups in grocery stores for specific items, as well as traveling to different stores to restock and remove items within stores. They are also tasked with keeping things clean, retagging shelves, and stocking new items upon delivery.

Merchandisers must be organized and able to make the most of their time, and should maintain an understanding of what is selling and what is not. They must also have excellent communication skills to work with customers and other employees in a friendly manner and drive customers toward products. Finally, they should be comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively with employees of the store and other vendors.

A high school diploma is often a minimum requirement for this position, and prior experience in the field is beneficial but not necessarily required. Merchandisers must also be able to lift up to 30 pounds on occasion and maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, as the position relies heavily on travel.
