These hired professionals usually take on roles as either a night or day nanny. A night nanny helps families who have newborn children and need help adjusting to being new parents. Their role may be to get the young infant on a nightly routine and to change and feed them when needed at night. A day nanny may take on several roles during the day. Some daily chores that can be expected include bathing, dressing, feeding, helping with school work, and taking children to school and extracurricular activities. The child care provider may also be hired as a live-in nanny or as one whom travels back and forth to the residence; this usually depends upon the need of the family.
Depending upon the hours hired to work, dinner preparation may also be expected of the nanny. It is the nanny's responsibility to learn different types of foods that are allowed and to prepare safe meals for individuals with allergies. Some nannies also keep a home in order and clean throughout the day. Nannies are expected to enjoy working with children of all ages, have great communication skills, and be certified in CPR and first aid. (Copyright 2017 PayScale.com)
