"Intern/Work While In School!"
Program Coordinator, Non-Profit Organization:
Health Education is a great field, but it really helps to have experience even for entry level jobs. Work in the field while in school, even if unpaid (volunteer or internship). Also, if you want to work in a hospital or government agency then work toward your CHES while in school and take the test, etc.

"Great environment, meaningful work, laughable employee pay."
Program Coordinator, Non-Profit Organization:
Pros: I love working on a program that I care about that is stimulating. I know the harder I work, the more good I can do to help my community and the environment. I also greatly value the relationships and work environment within my department at this position.
Cons: My organization shows little to no interest in investing in its human capital. The phrase "everyone is replaceable" has actually been said out loud to me.

"Doing God's Work."
Program Coordinator, Non-Profit Organization:
Pros: Helping to guide and support people as they work through the painful aftermath of the worst experience of their lives.
Cons: Not having the time to help more people or give as much attention to the administration of the program.

"Good over not so good."
Program Coordinator, Non-Profit Organization:
Pros: I love the impact my coordination of the program has on hundreds of boys each year. When I see how happy the mentees and mentors are my work feels 100% worthwhile. I enjoy building relationships with community members and groups across the Niagara region.
Cons: On occasion, the environment at work can be uncomfortable. We all work towards building a great team in order to serve as many children and youth as possible.
