A senior supply chain analyst is the person who is responsible for managing and coordinating the movement of products through the supply chain within their organization. This person will typically work within the manufacturing field, although the position can also be found within service providers and other supply companies. This is a position that is full-time and supervisory in nature. The hours may be dependent on the organization, though most persons in this field keep traditional weekday daytime hours. A senior supply chain analyst will have a variety of responsibilities related to their position, including understanding the supply chain within their organization, predicting and enhancing supply chain processes, identifying problems within their area, developing recommendations to support operations, gathering relevant data (regarding demand, costs, productivity, etc), interpreting and analyzing data, developing performance reports, investigating problems and developing solutions, monitoring contracts, monitoring logistics, providing analytical support, looking for new opportunities, monitoring proposals, coordinating delivery schedules, maintaining accurate databases, tracking product movement, and working toward increasing efficiency of their supply chain.
