Volunteer coordinators also often deal with all of the paperwork that's necessary when documenting volunteer activities. They may log the number of volunteers at any location, the number of volunteer hours, handle time sheets, forms that the volunteers must sign, and more. Because of this, they are usually responsible for keeping neat and organized records relating to the volunteers within their respective organizations.
They usually monitor the daily activities of the organization in order to determine need for volunteers in any specific area. They will also supervise the volunteers to ensure that they have been placed appropriately and are able to complete the tasks effectively. In addition, volunteer coordinators sometimes will attend public relations functions in order to bring attention to their organization, develop recruitment strategies, and solicit funds from potential donors.
