Q: What is it like working as a Web Developer?

Web Developer in San Diego:
"Web Development - Crafting the Client Experience."
Pros: Highly creative outlet. High work flexibility and telecommunication possibilities. Low stress level due to relaxed atmosphere. "Sink-or-swim" encourages and rewards cross-training.
Cons: You will frequently encounter challenges you don't have the first idea how to address (though I like that) Strong emphasis on self-training for programming outside of workplace environment (though I like that) Continuous system and program adjustments. Disconnect between client vision and development capabilities.

Web Developer in East Longmeadow:
"Always Learn always expand."
The industry is constantly changing, it isnt good enough to gain a skill and sit back, you need to always be actively looking at new technology, methods, trying new things and involve yourself with collaborations to expand your skill set.

Web Developer in Minneapolis:
"Aim higher."
Don't think you need to 'cut your teeth' at some small company or earn your chops. You will learn a lot at a small company but most places have a high turn around for very little pay. You might be just starting out, but you can waste a lot of time in some small company, your not doing them a favor by scraping by every month and most places will treat you like dirt. Don't be afraid to get up during an interview and walk away, send a message that poor treatment wont be tolerated and you won't be bullied. Honestly, the psychological damage from being thrown under a bus isn't worth it and small companies will use it as a tactic to appease clients and keep their workforce cheep. Yes its tough to find good developers everyone can afford, but it is no excuse. The sun is shining, go make hay.
