Graduates of the UTEP are found working in a number of different fields including the education industry, the health care industry, and the manufacturing industry. A large chunk of former UTEP students are employed in clinical care; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. The average salary for a grad from the UTEP is $59K.


The most lucrative professionals among UTEP alumni are Software Engineers; they earn a median annual salary of $78K. Also approaching the top of the pay scale at about $70K and $63K, respectively, are Electrical Engineers and Project Engineers. With a median annual earnings of approximately $99K per year, former Miners who have a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) are the best paid among the alumni population. A Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) offers the lowest median annual financial reward ($42K).


Knowledge of Engineering Design seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are 31 percent more than their former classmates' salaries ($77K). Microsoft Excel is a popular skill among UTEP alumni, with about one in eight grads reporting using it on the job. Competency in Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Customer Service also warrants excellent remuneration.

Benefits and Perks

A lucky minority (about one in three grads) are fortunate enough to be compensated for vacation while just one in five survey participants get sick time. A fair number of graduates opt for a 401(k) to save for retirement. A fair number of former students receive health insurance, and more than half of alumni get dental coverage. Graduates of University of Texas at El Paso are also recipients of a company-subsidized cell phone, life insurance, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.
