Assistant managers are also able to give discounts to customers who are unsatisfied with their dining experience. They are also in charge of handling any customer disputes or conflicts that may arise. For example, if a customer has a problem with their meal, it will be up to the assistant manager to solve the problem accordingly. Assistant managers need to be able to multitask and exhibit strong problem solving skills. Some restaurants only require a high school diploma or GED. However, some restaurants may require their assistant managers to have a two or three year degree in hospitality or food service management.
