When I first started this job I worked alongside another assistant, but he didn't last long and I ultimately ended up doing both jobs on my own. I thought I deserved a higher salary but I was initially hesitant to ask for it.

Concierge is a euphemism for receptionist or front desk position. If you are working in a "community," for instance, you will wear many hats, ranging from moving furniture for resident activities to interacting with people limited by disabilities ranging from memory disorders to alcoholism. This is a stressful "receptionist" position.
