AutoCAD operators are responsible for designing and drafting computer-aided design (CAD) drawings, meeting all project specifications and formatting to company standards. They must follow all project schedules and due dates, as well as work closely with the AutoCAD manager, project managers, and project engineers to ensure that the design is accurate and that contract responsibilities are met. Additionally, AutoCAD operators modify existing drawings and recommend changes based on their experience and knowledge of the project.
Among the AutoCAD operator's main duties are preparing presentation materials using AutoCAD graphic software. They also review and interpret client specifications, as well as help improve and maintain current quality assurance processes. AutoCAD operators are responsible for the maintenance of the CAD drawing library as well.
A bachelor's degree in architectural design or a related field is required for this position. Previous experience with AutoCAD - including in a professional capacity - is generally needed as well. AutoCAD operators must work well in a fast-paced environment while following all project and engineering specifications. They need to perform well in a team environment to reach all company objectives, as well as perform efficiently on their own with minimal supervision.
