Development engineers in manufacturing are responsible for developing manufacturing projects for their company. They are in charge of increasing manufacturing efficiency by developing process improvements. They use their engineering expertise to anticipate production issues and escalate manufacturing problems as soon as they arise. Development engineers in manufacturing work with other teams in their company to form a more cohesive production process, as well as use a personal computer to track manufacturing specifications and modify production numbers as needed. Development engineers in manufacturing actively participate in maintenance, production, and engineering tasks to establish preventative maintenance procedures, repair procedures, and spare parts requirements on all equipment, as well as monitor results. One of their main duties includes responding to customer complaints with root cause analysis and corrective actions. Development engineers in manufacturing plan, propose, and implement new production operations and equipment and the relocation of existing operations and equipment.
