A healthcare informatics specialist works in a healthcare institution to establish and maintain the information technology systems within the organization. This involves making sure that the systems comply to company policies, regulations, and the law. The specialist will be involved with research of technology systems and then plan for the implementation of the chosen system. Usually the ability to work on a team is important. Implementing a system may involve carrying out testing of the system before it is fully implemented and de-bugging and optimizing it as necessary.
