Information technology (IT) project analysts provide analysis on their organization's information systems projects through complex analytical tasks. They develop and implement techniques to assess projects, as well as identify issues and make recommendations to minimize risks. One of the IT project analyst's main responsibilities includes providing their expertise for configuration and validation of new computer system. They also must create professional relationships with external and internal consultants, as well as assist cyber security personnel to complete risk assessments. IT project analysts monitor project specifications, ensure validation efforts are completed on time, develop an efficient privacy strategy to minimize data loss and identify theft, and coordinate data migration and implementation support tasks.
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information analysis, or a related field is required for this job. In addition, previous experience in system or project analysis and industry certifications may be preferred. IT project analysts must have advanced analytical skills, be highly organized, and pay strong attention to detail. Additionally, they should work well in a team environment, as well as function effectively on their own with minimal supervision. IT project analysts should also be well versed with network environments and server technologies.
