Graduates of La Tech go into the health care industry, the architectural services industry, and clinical care, not to mention a variety of other lines of work. A large chunk of former La Tech students are employed in the engineering services industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. Those with a degree from La Tech make an average of approximately $62K.


Male graduates on average earn more than female graduates; the first group banks $67K per year, but the second group takes home only around $49K.


The La Tech alumni who make the most are Engineering Project Managers; they report a median pay of about $98K. Senior Mechanical Engineers and Operations Managers draw in a fair amount as well — $92K and $78K, respectively. Collecting the smallest paychecks are Graphic Designers — they bring in $41K.


The most popular destination for former La Tech students is Shreveport, La. La Tech alumni seeking the highest salaries end up in Houston, Texas, which offers a median salary of $81K. On the other hand, La Tech alumni who end up in Bossier City, La. receive the lowest median salary of approximately $37K. Nearby Monroe, La. and Baton Rouge, La. also rank high on the list of cities for La Tech grads.

Degree Major

Financial compensation is highest for La Tech grads with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (EE) (average earnings climb to around $124K per year). A Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management offers the lowest median annual financial reward ($40K).


Many former La Tech students are familiar with Project Management, and one-sixth of grads move on to positions where this experience is utilized. Former Bulldogs with Operations Management experience garner salaries that are 68 percent more than other grads' salaries. Other top skills include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Engineering Design.

Benefits and Perks

Paid time off due to illness is less common here than paid vacation time, one-third of survey participants report receiving the former, whereas just half of the alumni report receiving the latter. A large number of respondents report contributing to a 401(k). Benefits are rather generous for graduates of this school; most grads are rewarded with health insurance and a fair number of respondents report dental coverage, too. Louisiana Tech University alumni are also on the receiving end of life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.
