Next on the list are Engineering Project Managers and Senior Mechanical Engineers, bringing in around $97K and approximately $95K, respectively. Sliding in near the bottom are Intern Architects, who report earnings of about $39K.


Many La Tech grads flock to Shreveport. With a median salary of around $82K, Houston represents the highest-paid city popular among La Tech grads. Louisiana Tech University pride remains intact long after college is over, and many former students choose to live in Ruston despite the city offering some of the lowest median pay ($41K). Other common destinations for La Tech grads include close-by Monroe and Baton Rouge.

Degree Major

La Tech grads who hold a Master of Science (MS), Chemical Engineering can expect to fare better than most fellow alumni, earning about $110K per year. Annual salaries for those with a B.A. in Psychology are the lowest of the pack, earning $40K.


Project Management is a popular skill among La Tech alumni, with about one in six workers reporting using it on the job. Former Bulldogs who have experience with Engineering Design can expect to make 48 percent more than other alumni (approximately $89K on average). Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Engineering Design are desirable skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

Only two-fifths of alumni for this school enjoy paid vacation days and about one-third of alumni get paid sick time. The greater part of respondents set aside retirement funds in an employer-sponsored 401(k). The greater part of graduates enjoy benefits like health insurance, while a fair portion of alums receive dental plans, too.
