The health care industry, the architectural services industry, and clinical care are just a few of the areas in which La Tech grads find work. The most highly represented industry among alumni is the engineering services industry. The average salary for a grad from La Tech is $61K.


After college, a notable gender gap appears: the average female graduate makes about $49K where the average male graduate hauls home approximately $69K.


Among La Tech alumni, those working as Engineering Project Managers report the highest median pay of $98K, followed by Operations Managers ($78K), and Electrical Engineers ($72K). Sitting at the bottom of the pay scale are Intern Architects who make an average of around $43K.


The most popular destination for former La Tech students is Shreveport, La. Houston, Texas is another hot spot for La Tech grads, where salaries rank at the top of the pay scale (compensation averages out to $83K). Among popular cities, the lowest average pay is found in Ruston at $43K. Regardless of salary, a large portion of Louisiana Tech University grads opt to live in the area following graduation. Graduates of La Tech also relocate to Monroe, La., which is not far away, and Baton Rouge, La.

Degree Major

With a median annual earnings of around $127K per year, former Bulldogs who have a Master's Degree, Electrical Engineering (EE) are the best paid among the alumni population. Those holding an Associate's Degree are less fortunate in terms of earnings, bringing in about $42K on average per year.


Competency in Operations Management translates into above-average pay for former Bulldogs — they earn 70 percent more than their fellow graduates. Project Management is a common skill among La Tech alumni — one in six grads mention using it at work. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Engineering Design are among other dominant skills.

Benefits and Perks

As for time away from work, a little less than half of the former students are compensated for vacation days, but only one in three grads can take paid time off due to illness. Health insurance benefits extend to a large number of alumni, and a fair number of graduates sign up for dental plans. In an effort to save up for the years ahead, most alums contribute to a 401(k). Louisiana Tech University alumni are also on the receiving end of life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.
