Job Description for Hotel Receptionist

Hotel receptionists are responsible for all aspects of front-line customer services in a hotel environment. They greet customers upon arrival to the hotel and process their check-in information. Additionally, receptionists confirm reservation details, dispense room keys, and process customer payments. They explain check-in and check-out procedures, as well any other hotel policies relevant to their customers’ specific needs. Other tasks performed by hotel receptionists include answering the front desk phone, helping customers make reservations, and offering advice and suggestions to guests (such as dining recommendations). Hotel receptionists must have a firm grasp on hotel policy and be able to settle minor disputes with customers regarding billing and service issues, as receptionists are generally the initial contact for guests’ complaints.
